Reader Giveaway!

Tis the season to give, and what better to give than something that touched your life. A few years ago in some forgotten art history at Uvic, we viewed a movie called “Rivers and Tides: Andy Goldsworthy.” My view of art was altered forever.

This documentary is entrancingly beautiful, Andy is so talented, and the art he creates is indescribable. Some of the art will disintegrate, some will wash away, and some will melt as the sun rises. I can’t help imagine stumbling across one of his creations in the middle of nowhere, and not being able to do anything but stand and stare.

Art is one of those things that people are scared of, they don’t understand it, some of it makes no sence, and some artists seem to operate at a different wave length than the rest of us. I believe art is defined by creating something that is beautiful (and by beautiful I don’t mean “pretty” but something you can’t keep your eyes off, something that stirs inside of you, something that imprints into your brain) This movie is one of the most beautiful films I’ve ever viewed, and even if you aren’t into art, or don’t think you like ‘artsy’ things, I promise you, this film is different.

Sooooooo…….in the Christmas spirit, I am giving away an iTunes copy of Andy Goldsworthy’s documentary film to one lucky reader!
